Update — March 21, 2025: To keep this bill alive, the Texas House of Representatives must pass it before Thursday, May 15 — just days away. Please take action today and encourage your friends and family in Texas to join you.
Lawmakers are considering legislation that will finally stop puppy mills from profiting in Texas.
Pet stores often advertise that their puppies are “top quality” and come from “responsible breeders.” The sad reality is that puppies are trucked in from out-of-state commercial breeding facilities. Puppy mills treat animals like products; their only goal is to produce the highest number of puppies at the lowest possible cost. Dogs are often sick, injured or malnourished and confined to filthy, crowded cages.
