Shelters and rescues from coast to coast are under intense strain, often at capacity and stretching every dollar to provide quality care and services to the communities and animals they support. And while expectations for the types of services shelters can provide have grown, funding has not. You can help change that.
Municipal animal shelters are funded by their local governments. State-level funding is missing from the conversation, but there is no reason it needs to be.
Every year, governors present their state legislatures with a roadmap of what they want to see in the budget for the following year. We’re calling on all animal advocates to tell their governors to include funding for animal shelters in their state budgets.
