Hi. I'm Matt....Since my 39th birthday in August, I made a change in my life. I was 265 pounds, the heaviest I've ever been. I had a physical done (i hadn't been to the doctor in over 20 years) and when my blood work came back, it wasn't looking great(I was pre diabetic). So I've altered way I eat (portion control, not eating past 7pm, more green, less tan foods) and I've been staying in top of exercise. I've completed 2 triathlons, ran countless races, and even ran a half marathon this past thanksgiving. But mostly I've really fallen in love with running. I feel amazing and the support of my family and friends has been overwhelming. I still have a long way to go but this is a great start. Mentally I've felt a transition when feeling anxious or stressed, where I used to eat my feelings away, now I'm shifting to healthier coping. You can teach an old dog new tricks! Being that I lived in Brooklyn for almost 7 years (I moved back to Atlanta in 2006), I have much love for NYC. My wife and I started our relationship there, I joined the band Most Precious Blood and with them I traveled all over the world. I met some of the most creative, inspiring and beautiful people in my time there. Ive worked in NY as a skateboarding burrito delvery guy, juice bar slinger, screen printer, tattoo shop counter person, and in all my spare time, I ate my way through just about every vegan spot that New York had to offer in the early 2000s. So basically what I'm saying is that running the NYC marathon would mean the world to me, like finally saying goodbye to a city that taught me so much about myself and the world as a whole... I want to inspire, motovate, and promote a postive way of life. I want people to be amped on running (or any way toget the body moving!), as well as speard the word of a curelty free lifestyle.... so on November 3, 2019, I will be participating in the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon as a member of Team ASPCA. I am stoked to be participating as a member of Team ASPCA and honored to be raising the awareness and the much needed funding to support the ASPCA's programs. Your donation will help the ASPCA provide life-saving programs and services to millions of animals nationwide. The ASPCA is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight to give abused and homeless animals a second chance at life. Please support me by making a donation and help me make a positive impact in the lives of animals! Thank you! VIVA LOVE! PMA!!
About the ASPCA: Fighting for animals is a 24/7 job, but your commitment makes it possible for our life-saving programs to create happy endings for those innocent lives touched by cruelty.
