Happy birthday, Rugsby!
Rugsby was a beloved Golden Retriever who would be 14 years old this June 7, 2017. Last year, on May 1, 2016, Rugsby passed away suddenly from cancer. That evening Rusgby had a rupture in his spleen and after being taken care of at the emergency animal hospital, we decided to end his suffering. On that night, my family had to make the hardest decision of their life - we lost a family member and best friend. I am participating in the first annual ASPCA virtual 5k in his honor, during his birthday month.
You wouldn't have known Rugsby was an older pup. His exuberance was contagious and he truly loved being out in the sunshine. We used to participate in the Run 4 Rover virtual 5ks that would benefit the Grateful Goldens Rescue of the Low County. Rugsby would love getting a medal for going on his regular walks.
While Rugsby was not a rescue, I support the cause of the ASPCA. While every dog deserves the benefits of a loving home, not every dog will be afforded such care. We were lucky to have Rusgby in our lives, and I want to give back to those animals in need that deserve the love he taught us. Your donation will help the ASPCA provide life-saving programs and services to millions of animals nationwide. Please support me by making a donation and help me make a positive impact in the lives of animals! Thank you!
