Handsome’s Heroes
Last year, I did this race in honor of one of my favorite ASPCA graduates, Handsome, a 1 year old pit bull who was rescued from a fighting ring amongst many other dogs. I was deployed with the ASPCA and took care of Handsome and his pod for a week. I met some AMAZING people representing the ASPCA, who have such big compassionate hearts for these animals.
After going home, I never thought I would see Handsome again. Thankfully, I was wrong and when his case was completed - the Humane Society I work for received him and a few other dogs. Many difficult months went by, but I never gave up on getting him his furever home - Handsome was finally adopted and has been in his furever home ever since.
This year, I hope to meet my goal of $100 or more to give back to the ASPCA, so they can continue to help dogs, like Handsome, fight for their lives for a better life.
