For Gatzby

I’m fundraising in support of Adopt a Shelter Cat Month! Join me in raising funds to make a difference for animals in need. Your donation will help support the ASPCA’s life-saving services for millions of animals nationwide.  This morning (June 2nd) as I was driving to class I noticed a young cat standing at the side of the road looking like she was going to cross. I looked in my rear view mirror as she darted across the road, there were no cars near her. However, when I looked a second time, I saw she was laying on the ground, visibly injured. I turned around, ran across the same road she had been hit on, wrapped her in my sweatshirt when I saw she was still alive and drove her to Edgebrook Animal Hospital. Unfortunately, she didn't make it. She died in my lap before I even got her to the hospital. Her name was Gatzby. I chose to name her because I didn't want her to be "The cat" and for the last 10 minutes of her life, she was my cat. If she survived, she would have a home and a familiy.  Although this Gatzby was a stray, I wanted to do something to help prevent the loss of cat anymore cat lives as possible after losing her today. So when I learned it was ASPCA's Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, I thought, "Well, why not!?" Every cat deserves a happy home. The ASPCA is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight to give abused and homeless animals a second chance at life.
