FLANS (Fabulous Loving ANimalS)
On November 5-6, 2016, I will be participating in the 2016 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend as a member of Team ASPCA, a national fundraising and endurance training program. I am running this race for several reasons: First and foremost, to help abandoned and abused animals get the treatment and love that they deserved. As a personal goal, I would like to beat my previous half-marathon PR of 2 hours and 36 minutes. I want to inspire other people to help animals and maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle at the same time. I rescued my dog Daisy (golden retriever mix) in June, 2008 at 10-weeks of age. She had been dumped at a high-kill shelter in the Florida panhandle. My second dog, Roscoe ( a total Heinz 57 variety), I found on the side of the road in December, 2010. He started off my passion for chasing lost/stray dogs and trying to return them to their owners. My dog rescue journey really began in April, 2014 when two gorgeous blue pitty ladies (mom and pup) were abandoned near my home in St. Petersburg, FL. I fostered them, got them spayed/vaccinated, had mom treated for heartworms, and adopted them to the most amazing families where they have doggie and kitty siblings and live the good life. Since then, I have personally fostered, vetted and rehomed 5 adult dogs and 4 puppies. I volunteer regularly for Friends of Strays, Bruno's Foundation, and Passion4Pits in St. Petersburg, FL. I organized my neighborhood dog rescue, The Ruby Fund (https://www.facebook.com/therubyfund/), named for the first dog that the neighborhood collectively raised the funds to treat and rehome. The Ruby Fund works to rehabilitate and rehome animals abandoned within the boundaries of the Lakewood Estates (St. Petersburg, FL) neighborhood. We rely solely on foster homes and donations. I am excited to be participating as a member of Team ASPCA and honored to be raising the awareness and the much needed funding to support the ASPCA's programs. Your donation will help the ASPCA provide life-saving programs and services to millions of animals nationwide. The ASPCA is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight to give abused and homeless animals a second chance at life. Please support me by making a donation and help me make a positive impact in the lives of animals! Thank you!
About the ASPCA: Fighting for animals is a 24/7 job, but your commitment makes it possible for our life-saving programs to create happy endings for those innocent lives touched by cruelty. Every single day of the year, we are rescuing animals from neglect and suffering. With your support, we are able to rescue animals from dog fighting, cockfighting, and puppy mills, work to end animal homelessness and farm animal cruelty, and provide medical care for countless pets in need. Please help us save even more animals and donate to this Team ASPCA campaign today.
