Paws For 2019 New York City Marathon
Growing up, animals were the one consistent aspect I counted on to be there for me. They don’t judge you based on your circumstances, or the clothes you wear, or even who you are; they love unconditionally all those who treat them with kindness. Unfortunately, as I got older, I realized not everybody treats animals with the same kindness as I had come to expect. I started working at my first animal shelter when I was 22 years old, a local non profit organization, but it wasn’t until I went on a deployment with ASPCA’s FIR team that my eyes were opened to the true struggles of animal welfare. Dog fighting, hoarding cases, animal cruelty situations; there is no shortage of tragedy I’ve faced in my line of work. Luckily, there are a lot of people out there like me, fighting the fight for those who can’t speak for themselves. But we couldn’t continue doing the work we do without the support of people like you. On November 3, 2019 I will be running 26.2 miles for a cause that has had my heart since I was a child. I will be running the New York City Marathon as a part of Team ASPCA. And I will be carrying with me the heartache of all the animals I’ve faced in my career. But I will also be carrying the success stories, the tears of joy cried after seeing a pet get a second chance, and the paw prints that will forever be imprinted on my heart. Animals have changed my life, and running this marathon is a chance for me to continue changing theirs. I hope you’ll join me in this fight for the animals and help lend a voice to the voiceless. Every penny counts towards saving a life!
