Florence's 2015 TCS New York City Marathon

Hi Family & Friends!

As a runner, participating in the New York City Marathon has always been a dream of mine and I’m excited to share that it is finally happening! On November 1st, I’ll be lacing up my shoes and crossing five boroughs and five bridges with Team ASPCA in an effort to raise funds and promote awareness for abused and homeless animals.

Running my 26.2 miles to benefit animal rights and welfare is a perfect combination of my two great loves: Running and Veterinary Medicine. As I am completing my first year as a veterinarian at the ASPCA, I have developed a greater appreciation and understanding of our mission “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States”.

Not only do we focus on providing an excellent quality of medicine to our patients, but we also work tirelessly to make a direct impact in NYC and communities across the nation through intervening in animal cruelty cases, educating pet parents via campaigns to promote animal welfare, and most importantly, by providing shelter and care for homeless, abused, and abandoned animals.

Through programs like the ASPCA, animals who are most vulnerable are able to have a second chance at life and find their “forever” homes. As a Cat Mom / Servant / Guardian for Bingley, this cause is especially near and dear to my heart. Bingley was once homeless wandering through the frozen streets of Massachusetts with a broken tail before he was rescued on Christmas Day 2010, rehabilitated, and eventually found his forever home as my handsome tuxedo cat. There are so many more “Bingley’s” out there, cats and dogs alike, who are sick, abandoned, and neglected and just need their second chance too.

I am thrilled to be part of Team ASPCA and appreciate your support in helping me reach and hopefully exceed my goal of raising $3,500 by October 26th. Each dollar donated will go towards helping the ASPCA further it’s mission. Thank you for your support and encouragement in advance as I run my “miles for meows” so that animals across our city and country can live happier, healthier, and safer lives!

About the ASPCA: Fighting for animals is a 24/7 job, but your commitment makes it possible for our life-saving programs to create happy endings for those innocent lives touched by cruelty. Every single day of the year, we are rescuing animals from neglect and suffering. With your support, we are able to rescue animals from dog fighting, cockfighting, and puppy mills, work to end animal homelessness and farm animal cruelty, and provide medical care for countless pets in need. Please help us save even more animals and donate to this Team ASPCA campaign today.
