Tell Chicken Industry: Faster Slaughter Means More Suffering!

We need your help. As if factory farming isn’t bad enough, the National Chicken Council—the chicken industry’s trade group representing companies including Tyson, Perdue and Pilgrim’s Pride—recently petitioned the USDA to allow chicken slaughter plants to increase slaughter line speeds. As it is, industrial chicken slaughterhouses kill up to 140 birds per minute—more than two birds per second! Investigations into chicken slaughterhouses have shown that this frenzied pace results in chickens suffering from inhumane handling and drowning in scalding water.

All for the sake of higher profits, Big Chicken wants permission to kill even more birds per minute, causing more painful deaths for chickens, risking workers’ safety and potentially threatening food safety.

Please sign our petition demanding the National Chicken Council withdraw this reckless, inhumane proposal.
