ASPCA Assists with the Rescue of Nearly 70 Animals in Ohio

September 25, 2025

At the request of the Wood County Humane Society, ASPCA teams were on the ground in Northern Ohio this week, assisting with the rescue of nearly 20 dogs and approximately 50 birds in Wood County. In collaboration with the Wood County Humane Society’s Humane Investigations Division, our teams removed the inhumanely treated animals after they were found living in poor conditions. Dogs were being housed in unsanitary conditions without access to clean water and suffering from untreated medical issues.

Following their removal, the dogs were transported to an ASPCA facility where they will receive forensic veterinary examinations, medical treatment and behavioral care. The birds, who were also living in inhumane conditions, were transported to Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary in Ravenna, Ohio for ongoing care. Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary also assisted the ASPCA with this response.

As we continue to care for these rescued dogs, it’s critical that we have people like you by our side. Your support ensures we can be there at a moment’s notice when animals need us most. Please make an urgent gift today to help support these efforts and to help us continue our lifesaving work nationwide.
