U.S. H.R. 4673 — Save Our Bacon Act
Sponsor: Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa)
The Save Our Bacon Act (H.R. 4673) and the Food Security and Farm Protection Act (S. 1326) are dangerous bills that would nullify voter-approved state bans on cruel farming practices — including the use of gestation crates for pigs, battery cages for egg-laying hens and veal crates for calves — as well as undo hundreds of state laws regulating public health and safety.
Despite the new names, these bills are simply rebranded versions of the dangerous Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act from last Congress. While supporters in Congress and industrial agriculture interests claim these bills will protect farmers and food security, their real goal is to erase existing farm animal welfare laws and perpetuate the inhumane practices on factory farms. We cannot roll back progress and allow animals to suffer.
