As your constituent, I want to thank you for leading the Supporting Our Shelters Act (H.R. 5020) to help fund animal shelters and rescues across the country. Animal shelters and rescues play a critical role in caring for animals in our communities, including feeding, sheltering and providing veterinary care to pets and stray animals. Many shelters across the country are already operating beyond capacity, and their workload only continues to increase. Intake numbers are rising, animals are staying in shelters longer and adoption rates have slowed. Despite the increased demand, resources available to shelters and rescues have not kept pace.
The Supporting Our Shelters Act would provide funding to animal shelters and rescues to ensure they have the resources needed to continue their lifesaving work. Thank you for leading this legislation.
