As a Coloradan, I want to thank you for signing H.B. 26-1011 into law! With this bill becoming law, Colorado is taking a stand against the puppy mill industry and instead choosing to protect animals and consumers. This bill will save thousands of puppy mill puppies from being imported into Colorado to be sold at stores or through brokers. It will also protect consumers from the deceptive business practices that pet stores employ to sell puppy mill puppies that often become severely ill resulting in heartbreak and financial burden.
Instead, Colorado has chosen compassion and ethical business practices--supporting responsible breeders, transparent and humane business practices and local shelters and rescues.
Thank you again for your support in enacting this vital legislation into law and for being a champion in protecting Colorado consumers and our pets.
