We need to make sure that everyone, regardless of their income, can remain housed with their pets. This will not only create more equity amongst pet-owners in Colorado, it will also help support our shelters reduce their intakes and improve the outcome for pets across the state.
Thank you again for your leadership on H.B. 25-1207 which will help keep people from making the heart-breaking decision of having to part with their pets in order to obtain housing.

The high cost of housing in Colorado affects families in a variety of adverse ways, including putting families in a position where they are forced to choose between keeping their pet or keeping a roof over their head. As housing instability has increased, the shortage of pet-friendly housing is regularly cited as a reason why people relinquish their pet to an animal shelter.
Pet-friendly housing options are essential to keeping pets and people together. House Bill 25-1207 addresses key underlying housing-related issues that cause people to make the heartbreaking decision to give up their pet.
Once again, I ask that you please support H.B. 25-1207 to ensure that everyone, regardless of income, can remain with their pets.
