Thanks for Sponsoring H.B. 4980 to Expand Access to Vet Care
Dear Representative,
As your constituent, I want to thank you for your leadership in sponsoring H.B. 4980 to expand access to veterinary telemedicine.
Veterinary telemedicine is an indispensable tool for Michigan residents who face challenges getting their pets to a clinic due to work schedules, disability, transportation issues or because they have fearful, potentially aggressive or anxious pets.
Access to veterinary telemedicine helps senior pet owners, those who live in underserved and rural areas, and working families who may struggle to access veterinary clinics. This is especially true as the veterinary industry faces a detrimental shortage of professionals in the workforce.
California and Arizona just passed similar laws to enable greater access to veterinary telemedicine for pets by ensuring veterinarians can establish new patient relationships electronically, and it is time for our state to do the same.
Thank you once again for your strong leadership in supporting this step forward for Michiganders and their pets with H.B. 4980.
