Please Oppose Attacks on Animal Protection Laws in the Farm Bill

Dear Senator,
As your constituent who cares about the welfare of animals, supporting higher-welfare farmers and building a more humane food system, I am urging you to oppose the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act (S. 2019) and the Protecting Interstate Commerce for Livestock Producers Act (S. 3328), and to ensure that no similar language is included in the Farm Bill. These bills are attacks on the rights of states and localities and threaten countless state and local laws already in place, including those that safeguard animal welfare. Both bills are blatant attempts by Big Ag to maintain the status quo and ignore growing demand for the more humane treatment of farm animals. Critical animal protections, such as bans on cruel confinement and regulations of puppy mills, are threatened by these dangerous bills, in addition to many other environmental, food safety and labor protections. Some Big Ag allies are proposing an alleged "compromise" to sneak these harmful policies into the Farm Bill--please do not be fooled! The EATS Act and the Protecting Interstate Commerce for Livestock Producers Act are irresponsible and harmful bills, and I urge you to strongly oppose their inclusion in any form in the Farm Bill.

Please Keep the EATS Act (H.R. 4417) OUT of the Farm Bill
