Thank You for Committing to Ban Horse Slaughter!

Dear Legislator,
As your constituent and a supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), I want to thank you for leading the amendment to ban the slaughter of horses offered to the INVEST in America Act. Animal protection is a priority for me, and I greatly appreciate your leadership on such an important issue. Let’s end this cruelty, once and for all. I urge that you continue to press this lifesaving provision forward in any infrastructure bill.

Support Ban on Horse Slaughter in Infrastructure Bill!

Dear Legislator,
As your constituent and a supporter of equine welfare, I urge you to support a ban horse slaughter in any infrastructure bill moving forward in Congress. The U.S. House passed bipartisan language in the INVEST in America Act to ban the transport of our nation’s equines to slaughter, which would effectively end this unnecessary practice that 80% of Americans oppose. The horse slaughter business is a cruel, unnecessary, and predatory industry that has no domestic market and negatively impacts legitimate equine industries. A national survey published in 2017 revealed that 2.3 million adults in the U.S. have both the desire and resources to immediately adopt a horse. This means that there were more than enough homes for the approximately 35,000 American horses trucked across U.S. borders to slaughter last year—if only they had been given the chance to find them. It is past time to protect our nation’s equines. Please support language to ban horse slaughter in any infrastructure bill moving forward. Thank you.
