Please Sign A.4283/S.1130, the Puppy Mill Pipeline Bill

Dear Governor Hochul,
As a New Yorker who cares about the welfare of animals, I am writing to ask you to please sign A.4283/S.1130 into law at the earliest available opportunity. This bill, which passed overwhelmingly and with bipartisan support in both the Assembly and Senate, will end the sale of dogs, cats and rabbits in our state’s pet stores. Right now, out-of-state puppy mills ship their puppies via a pipeline of middlemen to New York pet stores, where they are marketed as healthy puppies from responsible breeders. But puppy mills make money by breeding dogs over and over in cruel conditions and selling huge numbers of puppies to pet stores. It’s a cruel and broken system made possible because, in New York State, it’s still legal to sell cruelly bred dogs and cats in pet stores. A.4283/S.1130 will sever this puppy mill pipeline and prevent cruel, out-of-state puppy mills from profiting off of unsuspecting New York families. The bill is supported by local and national animal welfare groups including the ASPCA, the Humane Society of the United States, the New York State Animal Protection Federation, Voters For Animal Rights, the Companion Animal Protection Society, the Animal Legal Defense Fund, and the NYC Bar Association's Animal Law Committee, as well as millions of New York animal lovers like myself. Thank you for your consideration,

Thank You for Supporting the Puppy Mill Pipeline Bill

Dear Legislator,
As your constituent and an animal advocate, I am writing to sincerely thank you for supporting and passing the NY Puppy Mill Pipeline Bill, A.4283/S.1130. As you know, right now, out-of-state puppy mills ship their puppies via a pipeline of middlemen to New York pet stores, where they are marketed as healthy puppies from responsible breeders. But puppy mills make money by breeding dogs over and over in cruel conditions and selling huge numbers of puppies to pet stores. It’s a cruel and broken system made possible because, in New York State, it’s still legal to sell cruelly bred dogs and cats in pet stores. A.4283/S.1130 will sever this puppy mill pipeline and prevent cruel, out-of-state puppy mills from profiting off unsuspecting New York families. I thank you for your support of this legislation, and for being a champion for animals in the NY Legislature. I look forward to seeing Governor Hochul sign this bill into law.
