Please Pass H.B. 5475 to Keep Puppy Mill Dogs Out of Connecticut

Dear Legislator,
As your constituent, I ask that you do all you can to pass H.B. 5475 in the Planning and Development Committee. This bill simply clarifies that Connecticut municipalities have the authority to make their own rules governing pet shops. Currently, over 330 jurisdictions across the nation have enacted local laws to keep cruelly bred puppies out of pet stores, including over 120 municipalities in neighboring New Jersey alone. Recently, Stamford passed a resolution expressly calling on the state legislature to clarify that Connecticut municipalities can regulate this state’s pet shops. H.B. 5475 would provide the requested clarity and protect Connecticut communities’ voice on pet shops. Again, as your constituent, I respectfully but strongly urge you to pass H.B. 5475 in the Planning and Development Committee. Thank you for your help!
