West Virginia, Bill to End Greyhound Racing Vetoed
Update—May 9, 2017: Unfortunately, Governor Justice vetoed S.B. 437, which would have put an end to Greyhound racing in West Virginia, on April 17. Thank you to everyone who made your voice heard on behalf of this important issue.
Greyhounds suffer on and off the track in this intolerably cruel "sport." What's more, the state is subsidizing Greyhound racing to the tune of $15 million a year. Wasting taxpayer dollars to prop up an abusive and dying industry is disgraceful.
S.B. 437, legislation that could put an end to Greyhound racing in West Virginia, passed the state Legislature but was vetoed by Governor Justice.
