Update — June 23, 2026: The U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee just released its version of the Farm Bill, which excludes the Save Our Bacon Act. While we celebrate this moment, the fight isn't over yet. The Save Our Bacon Act could still be added through an amentment. Please urge your U.S. Senators to reject any efforts to include the Save Our Bacon Act in the Farm Bill.

The Save Our Bacon Act (H.R. 4673) and the Food Security and Farm Protection Act (S. 1326) are dangerous bills that would nullify voter-approved state bans on cruel farming practices — including the use of gestation crates for pigs, battery cages for egg-laying hens and veal crates for calves — as well as undo hundreds of state laws regulating public health and safety.

Despite the new names, these bills are simply rebranded versions of the dangerous Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act from last Congress. While supporters in Congress and industrial agriculture interests claim these bills will protect farmers and food security, their real goal is to erase existing farm animal welfare laws and perpetuate the inhumane practices on factory farms. We cannot roll back progress and allow animals to suffer.
